What's Going On In Boulder-Denver?

More Than Words: The Hanen Program

Classes are now available to families and those who work with children in Boulder and Broomfield Counties through the Beyond Words Project.  The project helps people learn how to use everyday routines to support and promote their child's language and other development.  For families with children under three, financial support may be available through Imagine! and Kids Connections.  Scholarships and sliding fee scale are also available for qualifying families through a grant from the Louis and Harold Price Foundation.  For more information, contact Sheila Goetz, Beyond Words coordinator, at 303-709-3500 or s2goetz@indra.com.

Project ACT

Project ACT is a community team-based program that provides information and technical assistance on current practices and strategies responding to families with children in early childhood care and education. Funded by the Colorado Department of Education, Project ACT focuses on: Early Childhood Assessment Practices, Cultural Competence in Early Childhood Assessment and Intervention Planning, and Transition Planning for Young Children. Activities include regional workshops, community-based workshops, written and audio-visual materials, follow-up technical assistance and evaluation.  The information and activities provided by Project ACT are designed for families, service providers, child identification team members, and other early childhood personnel. Each strand can be offered as a workshop varied in length from 1.5-5 hours and may include technical assistance. We would be very interested in working with your Colorado-based community.  For more information, contact Dr. Barbara Roscoe at Barbara.Roscoe@colorado.edu or 303-492-0066.
